About

I'm an (software) engineer. That means I solve problems. Not problems like what is beauty because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems...

Hello Internet! My name is Piotrek. Welcome to my blog!

“Writing To Learn” is a concept introduced to the broader public by William Zinsser in a book with the same title. The idea is simple: we can use writing as a tool for learning. When we write about a topic, the degree to which we understand it is reflected in our writing. The better the text, the better we feel about the ideas we are trying to present. Thus, when reading, writing, or judging a text, we should consider the content, clarity, and style.

The idea of writing to learn has been stuck in my head for quite some time. Not only does it improve my understanding of a topic, but it also pushes me further in my research. I learn more and improve my knowledge about the topic; that’s great! I can even share it with others so anyone can point out my mistakes. Brilliant!

I hope someone will find value in what I create during this writing adventure.

I want to approach this with a “getting shit done” attitude. Perfectionism was never my forte; I prefer the good enough standard. (Presented so nicely by Van Neistat in here) This way of thinking prioritizes writing and removes arguments from my writer’s paralysis. This approach might result in articles that could be better, and I’m okay with that. I have never been a great writer (or speaker, for that matter), and English is not my native language. Still, I genuinely believe that with time and practice, I will improve quite a bit.

What am I going to write about?

I want to follow my interests, which now include but are not limited to, game AI, game programming, graphics programming, programming in general, and maths. You can expect to see these here. Write-ups about my projects might also appear from time to time.
